Driving into the New Year

A new year calls for a new opportunity to get your suspended or revoked license back in Tennessee.

The Tennessee General Assembly has passed legislation (House Bill No. 1495), which amends T.C.A. Title 55 by deleting the requirement that a person’s driver license be suspended for an additional like period if convicted of driving on a suspended or revoked license, and allows a court to order issuance of a restricted driver license contingent on the person participating in a payment plan for any unpaid fines or costs. In other words, people with a suspended or revoked driver’s license due to previously unpaid fines will have the opportunity to apply for a restricted license.

This law takes effect on January 1, 2017.
